How do I trust Christ as my savior?

Establishing a spiritual base for my life, it is very important to begin by believing in Jesus as the Son of God who loves you and wants the best for your life.

  • Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for me.
Jesus showed He was God by coming back to life. “It is Good News that saves you . . . that Christ died for our sins just as the Scriptures said He would, and that He was buried, and three days afterwards, He arose from the grave.” 1 Corinthians 15:2-4
  • Accept God's free forgiveness for my sins.
“Now God says He will accept and acquit us—declare us ‘not guilty’—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we can all be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like.” Romans 3:22
  • Switch to God's plan for my life.
“Turn from your sins and act on this glorious news!” Mark 1:16 “Don't let the world squeeze you into it's own mold, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed.” Romans 12:2
  • Express my desire for Christ to be the Manager of my life.
“If you confess with your lips, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
  • What to Pray:
God is looking at the attitude of your heart more than these exact words: “Lord Jesus . . .

What does God want from me?

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise to return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for everyone to repent” (2 Peter 3:9). “Jesus told them, ‘This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the One He has sent’” (John 6:29).

How do I turn from my sin and repent? “We are made right in God's sight when we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins” (Romans 3:22). “For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed His blood, sacrificing His life for us” (Romans 3:25). “He declares sinners to be right in His sight because they believe in Jesus” (Romans 3:26 ).

I believe, now what? “Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear Me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends” (Revelation 3:20). “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Why is church membership so important?

Where did church membership start? The New Testament clearly shows us why church membership is vital for Christ-followers. Here are a few of the examples: It gives the accountability that is needed to produce spiritual growth (Hebrews 3:12–13). It is difficult to be accountable when you are not connected with other Christ-followers. The apostles traveled from town to town establishing local groups of Christ-followers who were led by elders and pastors (Acts 14:21–23; Titus 1:5; Ephesians 4:11–12; 1 Timothy 5:17–20; 1 Thessalonians 5:12–13).

These local spiritual leaders were directly responsible to God for their members’ well-being (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:1–4, Acts 20:28–31).

Christians in the New Testament would willingly identify themselves with these groups as Christ-followers (Acts 11:22–26; 14:21–28; 15:40–41; 16:4–5; Romans 16:1–5, 1 Corinthians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 4:15; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; Philemon 1:1–2).

Why is it still important?
A team has a roster, a business has employees, a country has citizens, and a church has members. We all have a need to belong.

Becoming a Flamingo Road Church member will identify you with your spiritual family. The church leaders need to identify those they can rely on to build and sustain the ministries of the church. Church membership identifies you as a Christian brother or sister who will receive priority when finite church resources are needed (Galatians 6:10).

How do I become a member of FRC?

When we become a Christ-follower by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we automatically become members of the body of Christ. We have an invisible and unbreakable bond that links us to Christ and to each other. Becoming a church member makes something that is invisible become visible. Membership can be a significant “defining moment” in our Christ-following journey.

How do I become a member?
There are four qualifications for membership at Flamingo Road Church:

  • A personal commitment of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
  • Baptism by immersion as a testimony of salvation.
  • Completion of the church’s membership class, Fuel.
  • A commitment to abide by the Membership Covenant, signified by signing the covenant, an a commitment to live an authentic Christian life.

When is the next new member’s class?
At Flamingo Road Church, our New Members’ Class (also known as FUEL) is part of a series of classes. The only class required for Church membership is BASIX, but all of the FUEL classes are excellent. They are designed to be a personally enriching spiritual step in your ongoing walk with Christ.
